Texas Melons @ H.E.B.

Melons from the Valley are ripe - and extra flavorful this year, since there hasn’t been much rain. At the H.E.B. in Austin’s Hancock center, “personal” sized watermelons from Little Bear (Edinburg) are $3.99 each. Honeydew labled “Go Texan” are an even bigger bargain, at only $2.99. Get ‘em while they’re sweet and juicy!

WHERE I FOUND IT: People’s Pharmacy on North Lamar. 
WHEN: I visited on February 5, but Betsy delivers a new batch of lots of different cuts every Thursday. You can call in advance to check availability [512/459.9090].
PRICE: Varies depending on the cut. I paid $13.00 per pound for top sirloin.
